17/06/2014 - A former beneficiary of the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire, young Burundian boy Don Noël recently went through a successful surgery again, thanks to the common efforts of several partners from Monaco.

Don Noël, suffering from a severe heart pathology, had a first surgery in Monaco back in 2008 through the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire. Another surgery had to occur three years later. Back to live with his family, he could then live a normal life, while his health was under constant medical supervision.

Unfortunately, during the past few months, the teams of AMADE Burundi noticed a strong deterioration of Don Noël's health. He was quickly examined by local doctors, who recommanded an emergency surgery.

AMADE Mondiale and AMADE Burundi managed to organize his transportation to Monaco, in close collaboration with the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center, the International Cooperation Division, and French NGO Rencontres Africaines.

When he arrived in Monaco, Don Noël's heart rate was 34 beats per minute, the battery device being out of fonction since several weeks. He was immediately operated on Friday 13 June by the surgeons of the Cardio-Thoracic Center, and is now out of danger.

The happy ending proves how important is the follow-up activities ensured locally with the beneficiaries of the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire.

The Collectif was created in March 2008 on the occasion of H.S.H. Prince Albert II's 50th birthday. It joins together about 20 Monaco's international solidarity organizations, in order to operate in the Principality children coming from developing countries, whose pathologies cannot be treated in their country.

To date, the Collectif have provided surgery in Monaco for more than 200 children.
